Winter Carnival 2008

Better late than never! For those of you who have been out of touch, or for all that are interested, Jon Carty gives us his report on Winter Carnival 2008.

Winter Carnival 2008 was quite the time at the lodge, beginning with the Louie the Lobster party on Thursday February 7th, and continuing through the classic Saturday Pig Roast. The weekend was snowy and cold, but brothers enjoyed events both at the house and around campus for the three days nonetheless.

Thursday night began with a brothers-only event preceding the Louie Party to kick off the weekend. The Louie Party brought a huge crowd, and appropriately started the big weekend off with a bang. The crowd represented many of the other fraternities and sororities at Dartmouth; it’s no secret that Theta Delt knows how to throw a great party. Many Theta Delt alumni returned for the weekend, some coming as early as Wednesday, and many arriving after work on Friday, just in time for the Pig Roast.

A special thanks goes out to Dave Jenks, his wife Marlene, and their son, Zeb, for all of their hard work in helping us put together the Pig Roast. They are truly the backbone of our renowned Saturday afternoon party. Dave fired up the smoker a few days in advance and prepared some excellent pig meat and corn, serving it throughout the day on Saturday. Even with the heavy snowfall, the brothers of Theta Delt, as well as other Dartmouth undergrads, enjoyed a phenomenal Saturday afternoon. Check out the pictures in the “Winter Carnival 2008” album soon to be posted for a few snapshots of Winter Carnival at the lodge.
